Anyone can do Pilates. Pilates is challenging, safe, and appropriate for all ages and levels of fitness. Exercises can be modified to make the work appropriate for anyone, I am trained to work with any physical limitations you may have and can also liase with your Doctor, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Osteopath if needed.
Pilates offers a safe and beneficial form of exercise for a wide range of medical conditions including Scoliosis, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis.
At your first visit you will complete a brief medical history form and waiver so I can learn more about your needs.
I am accustomed to working with clients who have back, knee, and shoulder injuries, for example, and see many clients with spinal abnormalities, such as scoliosis, since Pilates works to restore alignment and strengthen the muscles that support the spine.
If you are concerned about your ability to exercise, be sure to ask your doctor before starting a new exercise regime
If you are a complete beginner I recommend regular private sessions to start with so you understand Pilates and its key principles which are :
Please wear comfortable slim fitting clothing and pilates socks for hygiene purposes on the reformer machine. You can buy pilates socks at my studio if you do not have any.
The studio is very private and friendly with doors and windows for fresh air.
There is also air conditioning and underfloor heating which is very important as this affects the muscles.
You will be working on the newest Reformer machine on the market from USA called an Allegro 2.
For matwork you will be working on large physiotherapy mats that are thick and comfortable which is important so your spine is protected and supported.
The studio is situated in the middle of Santa Gertrudis town and there is parking directly outside.
The Pilates method is best paired with cardiovascular exercise.
Generally 1 to 3 Pilates sessions are recommended per week in conjunction with cardiovascular exercise such as walking, running, swimming, biking, etc… Pilates is designed to bring the body to it’s optimal level of functionality.
Your endurance and stamina will increase as you get stronger, and your body will burn more calories and run more efficiently. Pilates is the perfect resistance training to help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals.
